Linked Aadhaar and PAN ? (If you haven’t linked already, please read our guide on how to link your PAN and Aadhaar). Move on, it is the turn of your bank account to catch a link with your Aadhaar. The Government of India has set a deadline (December 31, 2017) before which every bank customer has to link his bank account with Aadhaar number. In this post, we will discuss how to go about linking your bank account with Aadhaar. Follow the steps mentioned below:
Method-1: Through Online Aadhaar Portal
Step-1: Open your browser and type the Aadhaar portal URL: www.uidai.gov.in and hit “Enter”.
Step-2: On the page find and click on the link “Check Aadhaar & Bank Account Linking Status”. Alternatively you can click on this link to directly enter the page.
Step-3: You will need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number. Enter security code and press “Send OTP”. OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP and then click Login button at the bottom.
Step-4: If your Aadhaar number is mapped to the bank account number, it will show a message “Congratulations. Your Bank Aadhaar mapping has been done.”
If your bank account is not yet linked to Aadhaar, you will receive an error message typically something like this:
Method-2: Using USSD from Mobile Phone
Step-1: Dial *99*99*1#. USSD will run and will prompt you to enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number. Enter and submit.
Step-2: Confirm the Aadhaar number that you just entered. Click Send.
Step-3: If if your bank account is already linked to your Aadhaar, you will receive the successful message. Otherwise you will receive “Sorry, the Aadhaar number you entered is not linked with any bank.”
Note: If your Aadhaar number is not yet linked to your bank account, visit your bank branch and give a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar mentioning your bank account number. The bank will then map Aadhaar number and your bank account number. Alternatively some banks like State Bank of India are offering the same facility via their net banking services.
